Transition to Tucows Registry Services

This guide explains what registrars need to know and do for the upcoming transition of Radix TLDs from the Technical Service Provider (TSP) platform to Tucows Registry Services (TRS). It is intended to help registrars prepare operationally, technically, and administratively ahead of the transition.

Radix TLDs will transition to Tucows Registry Services on 17 March 2026. This is a backend registry change only and does not affect registrar accreditation or registrant ownership of domains.

Historical transactions and invoices from current TSP will not be transitioned to Tucows Registry Services. Registrars should download and retain any current TSP records they may need for future reference.

Affected TLDs include:
.fun, .host, .in.net, .online, .press, .pw, .site, .space, .store, .tech, .uno, .website

Transition Timeline and Downtime

  • Transition date: 17 March 2026
  • Planned maintenance window: 00:00–10:00 UTC

During the transition window:

  • DNS services will remain fully operational
  • Registration Data Directory Services (RDDS) services will remain available
  • No domain creates, updates, renewals, transfers, or deletes will be permitted
  • All registry services for the transitioning TLDs are unavailable, except RDDS and DNS.
  • Registrars will be notified once the transition is complete.

Onboarding Guidance

New registrars to Tucows Registry Services

New registrars will receive an onboarding email from Tucows containing:

  • OTE credentials
  • Certificates
  • System access details

Important: The onboarding link expires 30 days from the date it is sent.

New registrars must:

  1. Access and download the onboarding details before the link expires
  2. Log in to the Radix OTE environment
  3. Test required EPP commands

Existing Tucows registrars

If you already work with Tucows Registry Services for other TLDs:

  • Your existing EPP and Registrar Console user credentials will be copied from tucowsregistry.com environment to the Radix OTE and production environments
  • Use your existing EPP client certificates to connect to the RADIX EPP servers (OT&E and Production environments use different certificates)

Production environments are not live yet. Tucows will notify registrars when production access is available when transition is complete.

Registrar Action: OTE Onboarding and Testing

To support a smooth transition, registrars are strongly encouraged to onboard and test in the Radix OTE (Operational Test & Evaluation) environment ahead of transition.

Testing is critical to ensure your systems are fully compatible with Tucows Registry Services before production go-live, especially if you do not currently manage other TLDs on the Tucows platform.

Registrars who do not complete onboarding and testing may experience:

  • Connection issues post-transition
  • Delays in domain operations
  • Increased support requirements during go-live

Radix Registry Environments

OTE (Operational Test & Evaluation)

Production

Recommended OTE Testing

At a minimum, registrars should test the following operations in OTE:

  • Domain create
  • Renew and restore
  • Transfer (in and out)
  • Domain updates (nameservers, contacts, locks)
  • Delete and restore
  • Glue / host object operations (if applicable)

Key Changes

Below is a summary of the key changes for Registrars.

Amended Radix Registry-Registrar Agreement (RRA)

Registrars are required to execute the amended RRA for the following Radix top-level domains: .fun, .host, .online, .press, .site, .space, .store, .tech, .uno, .website, prior to March 17, 2026 in the Tucows Registry Services Portal. You will need to access the Tucows Registry Services Portal to execute the RRAs and provide your up to date Registrar information. Please follow the instructions in the Tucows Registry Services Portal Guide.

Please note: While no amendments have been made to the RRAs for .in.net and .pw, registrars will also be required to sign those agreements through the portal for mutual record and reference.

Billing and Invoicing Changes

Separate invoicing

Registrars will receive a monthly invoice on the 15th of each month (or the next business day, ET) covering billable transactions from the previous month. These invoices will include only Radix product transactions — no non-Radix TLD transactions will be included. The invoices will be generated and sent by Tucows Registry Services, with RADIX TECHNOLOGIES INC SEZC listed as the billing entity.

New bank details for Radix payments

Payments for Radix TLDs must be sent to the following account:

  • Beneficiary Name: Radix Technologies Inc SEZC
  • Bank: JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A.
  • Branch: Hong Kong
  • Account Number: 6300211148
  • SWIFT: CHASHKHH
  • Currency: USD
  • Routing number: 021000021

Prepaid registrars may send funds to this account and have their Tucows Registry Services accounts funded accordingly. Credit card payments will also be accepted on Tucows Registry Services after transition.

Billing behavior on Tucows Registry Services

How Tucows Registry Services billing is handled for most domain transactions:

  • Domain transactions are billed at the time the transaction occurs
  • If a domain is deleted within the applicable grace period:
    • The transaction fee is automatically refunded at the time of deletion
  • This applies to standard domain transactions such as:
    • Creates
    • Renewals
    • Transfers

Exception:

  • Auto-renew transactions follow standard auto-renew billing rules and are not billed using the immediate-charge-and-refund model. Please see the Domain Autorenew Lifecycle article for details.

What this means for registrars

  • Charges appear immediately when a transaction is completed
  • Refunds are applied automatically when domains are deleted within grace periods
  • No end-of-month “finalization” is required for most transaction types
  • Billing visibility is more immediate and transaction-based

Account balance in the Registrar Console

Registrars can view the current account balance in the Registrar Console (production: http://console.radix.host/). The production console will be available after the transition.

In the Registrar Console, the account balance is visible in:

  • The top banner
  • The Account Balance section on the Dashboard
  • The Transaction History section

Rebates and Historical Records

  • Transactions processed on Technical Service Provider will have rebates handled by Technical Service Provider
  • Transactions processed on Tucows Registry Services will have rebates handled by Tucows
  • Registrars should share details of any outstanding rebates directly with Radix as soon as possible.

Premium Names List

Radix does not anticipate any updates to the premium names list prior to the completion of the transition to Tucows Registry Services.

The current premium names list provided by the existing registry backend provider will remain valid throughout the transition period.

Key points

  • No changes expected to premium names pricing or availability before transition
  • Current premium list from current registry backend provider can be relied upon for pre-transition planning
  • Registrars can proceed with confidence using the existing premium names list
  • Any updates to the premium list will only occur post-transition
  • Any changes will be communicated to registrars and an updated list will be shared in a timely manner

EPP and Platform Behavior

  • No major EPP changes are expected
  • Tucows Registry Services uses a clean, RFC-aligned EPP implementation
  • Standards-compliant EPP clients should work with minimal or no changes

Registrars should ensure they:

  • Test all EPP commands in OTE
  • Rely on standard EPP status codes
  • Avoid hardcoding registry-specific error messages

Auto-renewals

Transfer Lock

Please see Change to Transfer Lock

  • clientTransferProhibited: registrar-controlled
  • serverTransferProhibited: registry-controlled (used sparingly)

Glue and host objects

  • Domains with active child hosts cannot be deleted
  • All dependencies must be removed before deletion
  • Clear EPP error messages are returned when dependencies exist

This behavior is consistent with most major registry platforms.

  • OTE onboarding
  • Missing credentials
