Key Operational Changes
Registrars should review the following important changes prior to transition:
1. Onboarding to Tucows Registry Services (Required)
All registrars must complete onboarding with Tucows Registry Services prior to transition:
https://portal.tucowsregistry.net
Failure to complete onboarding may result in an inability to transact when the registry reopens.
2. Transfer Lock Implementation Change
Transfer lock is not enforced at Tucows Registry Services.
Please review the Change to Transfer Lock Implementation article for important details regarding this behavioral difference.
3. AuthCode Changes
Domain authcodes will not carry over from the current Registry Service Provider.
- New authcodes will be issued for all domains on the Tucows Registry Services platform.
- Registrars should plan accordingly for transfer workflows immediately following transition.
4. Dual EPP Fee Extension Support
Tucows Registry Services supports both:
- fee-0.7
- fee-1.0
There are no plans to deprecate fee-0.7.
Please refer to the Dual EPP Fee Extension Support article for implementation details.
5. Prepaid Account Funding
Prepaid accounts with current Radix Registry Service Provider will be configured as prepaid at Tucows Registry Services.
Prepaid registrars must ensure accounts are funded prior to transition.
For full funding requirements and instructions, please review the applicable Knowledge Base article.
6. Refund Handling Post-Transition
Any refund resulting from the deletion of a domain name that was in a grace period at the time of the March 17 transition, including, but not limited to, the Add Grace Period (AGP) or Renewal Grace Period (RGP), will be credited to your registrar account at the current Registry Service Provider (RSP), not at Tucows Registry Services, as the original fee was collected prior to the transition.
