This guide outlines what you need to know about the transition of Radix TLDs to Tucows Registry Services. It explains what is changing, what is not changing, key dates, the maintenance window, service availability during the transition, and required preparatory actions.

Q: When is the Radix transition to Tucows Registry Services happening?

A: The Radix TLDs transition to Tucows Registry Services on 17 March 2026.

Q: What exactly is changing during the transition?

A: This is a registry backend/provider transition to Tucows Registry Services. It does not change registrant domain ownership.

Q: Which TLDs are included in the transition?

A: The transition applies to: .fun, .host, .in.net, .online, .press, .pw, .site, .space, .store, .tech, .uno, .website.

Q: Will there be downtime? What is the maintenance window?

A: Yes. The planned maintenance window is 00:00–10:00 UTC on the transition date.

Q: What will still work during the transition window?

A: DNS remains operational, and Registration Data Directory Services (RDDS) remain available during the transition window.

Q: What actions will be blocked during the transition window?

A: During the maintenance window, no creates, updates, renewals, transfers, or deletes will be permitted.

Q: Will we be notified when the transition is complete?

A: Yes, registrars will be notified when the transition is complete.

Q: Will historical invoices/transactions move to Tucows Registry Services?

A: No—historical transactions and invoices from the current Registry Service Provider (RSP) are not transitioned, so you should download and retain any records you may need later.

What happens during the March 17 transition window?

During the transition window (March 17, 2026, 00:00–~10:00 UTC), the following will occur:

  • At the current Registry Service Provider, all transformational commands, including create, renew, transfer, update, delete are not permitted, informational queries are still allowed.
  • The Tucows Registry Services production platform for Radix will be offline.
  • DNS services will remain fully operational.
  • Registration Data Directory Services (RDDS) will remain available.
  • EPP check and info commands remain available at the current Registry Service Provider.
  • The Tucows Registry Services OT&E platform for Radix will remain available.

DNS and DNSSEC

Q: Is any action required from the registrar for domains signed by DNSSEC post-migration?
A: No action is required. Domains signed with DNSSEC will continue to function normally after migration.

Radix TLD Authcodes

Q: Will existing Radix TLD authcodes carry over after the transition to Tucows Registry Services?

A: No. Domain authorization codes (authcodes) will not carry over from the current Registry Service Provider. New authcodes will be issued for all domains through Tucows Registry Services. Registrars will need to obtain the newly generated authcodes for any transfer requests following the transition.

Radix Promotions

Q: What will happen to existing Radix TLD promotions during the transition?

A: The existing standard and premium marketing promotions for Radix TLDs will continue to run as scheduled until their current expiry dates.
