Fee extension sent on March Sixth

fee-1.0 Extension Support Now Available in Radix OT&E

Dear Registrar Partner,

Tucows Registry Services is pleased to announce the availability of the Registry Fee Extension for EPP fee-1.0 (RFC 8748) support in the Radix Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) environment.

Affected TLDs:

.fun, .host, .in.net, .online, .press, .pw, .site, .space, .store, .tech, .uno, and .website

Support added

Support for RFC 8748 (EPP Fee Extension 1.0, namespace urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:epp:fee-1.0) alongside existing fee-0.7 support

OT&E EPP Server (TCP 700)

epp.ote.radix.host

The Registry Fee Extension for EPP fee-1.0 support will also be made available in other Tucows Registry Services instances. We will announce the availability and timelines for additional instances accordingly.

Implementation Details

We have implemented fee-1.0 extension support to accommodate registrars transitioning from Radix prior transition Registry Service Provider (RSP). This enhancement demonstrates our commitment to minimizing disruption during transitions and supporting diverse technical requirements.

Dual Fee Extension Support

Both fee-0.7 (urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:fee-0.7) and fee-1.0 (urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:epp:fee-1.0) are fully supported. There is no plan to deprecate fee-0.7. Registrars may continue using fee-0.7 or transition to fee-1.0 at their own pace.

Technical Implementation

When a registrar declares both fee-0.7 and fee-1.0 extensions on login, Tucows Registry Services implements an intelligent per-request matching solution:

  1. Request with fee extension →  The server responds with the same fee extension version used in the request
  2. Request without fee extension but response needs fee data → The server uses the highest declared version from the session (fee-1.0 takes precedence over fee-0.7)

Testing in OT&E

Radix OT&E at Tucows Registry Services is now available for comprehensive testing of fee-1.0 functionality. We encourage all registrars to:

  • Validate fee-1.0 extension behavior in your testing environment
  • Verify compatibility with existing fee-0.7 implementations
  • Test the per-request extension matching solution

Production Availability

fee-1.0 and fee-0.7 support will be available in Radix Production on transition day (March 17, 2026).
